A TRICK OF THE TRADE

“Stop!” thundered the client at the barber who was cutting his hair. Then he continued, in somewhat milder tones:

“Why do you insist upon telling me these horrible, blood-curdling stories of ghosts and robbers while you are cutting my hair?”

“I’m very sorry, sir,” replied the barber, “but, you see, when I tell stories like that to my clients their hair stands on end, and it makes it ever so much easier to cut.”

LOONEY PARK

The exhibition of the season will be provided for visitors at Looney Park, Wilson’s Corner, at the corner of Sackville and Bank Streets next Friday night. There will be sales of produce, vegetables, poultry, eggs, cakes, sweets, flowers, etc. Magic tents, novelties and side shows of all descriptions will be there. Not the smallest attraction will be the hot pie and coffee supper; or soft drinks with sandwiches or cakes, 6d. The marauding ghost who disturbed the hamlet’s place [peace?] for many weeks has been captured, and will be on view at a small cost. Come along and give the children a treat.
